What I’ve Accomplished

Since the beginning

In 2013, I completed my bachelor of nursing at the university of Wollongong. I became a registered nurse at 2014 and completed my new grad program at Sutherland hospital working as a mental health nurse. I then continued my training at Royal Prince Alfred hospital in 2015 working as a mental health nurse until the end of 2018. I had a gap year in 2019 and continued my training at Coffs Harbour hospital at the start of 2020. At Coffs Harbour hospital I again worked as a mental health nurse but soon later transitioned to be a community mental health nurse. It’s 2024 and I still train as a community mental health nurse at Coffs Harbour Hospital.

In my 9 years experience as a mental health nurse I worked in:

  • High and low dependency inpatient settings

  • Inpatient shift in charge

  • Eating disorder unit

  • Short stay unit

  • Assessment unit

  • Acute community mental health

  • Case management community mental health

  • Clozapine clinic

  • Olanzapine clinic

  • Depot clinic

I have worked with other health professionals to construct a holistic person centered recovery framework; learned multiple different diagnosis and created individualized specific care plan with the participants and supports; learned the positive and negative side effects of medications (ranging from anti-psychotics, anti-depressants, mood stabilizers, to cardiac medications, diabetic medications, respiratory medications and much more.)

I have learned how to assess risk such as suicide, self harm, harm towards others, reputation and substance use. I have learned how to construct a safety plan to mitigate those risks.

I have had the privilege to help people in their darkest moments and I have had the joy of seeing them come out the other end.

I have preformed emergency care to people in critical conditions and CPR to their final moment.

I am committed to improving and specializing in the field of mental health.

Let’s work together to create a new beginning and a brighter future.
